PGR Showcase - Simon Singh to give keynote speech

Science journalist and author Simon Singh has been confirmed as a keynote speaker along with Professor Kim Knott (Professor of Religious Studies) for the first Annual Postgraduate Conference.

The conference will celebrate excellence in postgraduate research and takes place on 14 December 2010 at the Conference Auditorium and Roger Stevens Building.  The event features three parallel sessions of postgraduate researcher presentations chaired by fellow students.  

It will also include:

  • Showcasing of over 60 University of Leeds postgraduate research projects from all Faculties
  • Announcing the winner of the 'Postgraduate Researcher of the Year 2010' competition
  • Announcing the winner of 'Postgraduate Research Image of the Year 2010' competition
  • Announcing the winner of the 'Postgraduate Researcher Presentations' competition.

Professor Andrew Thompson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation said: "Postgraduate researchers make a significant contribution to the research and reputation of the University and this is a unique opportunity for them to share their work with fellow students, the wider academic community and invited guests from local companies and organisations. The conference is also a great opportunity for researchers to meet and network with others from every discipline and department in the University."
