Thai officials visit University

A delegation including the Thai Foreign Minister and Ambassador will visit the University on Saturday 27 November to meet students and staff from the Department of East Asian Studies (Thai Studies).

His Excellency Mr Kasit Piromya, Thai Foreign Minister, and His Excellency Mr Kitti Wasinondh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, together with several other dignitaries, will meet with Professor Duncan McCargo, Professor Joern Dosch, Professor Michael Parnwell and Dr Martin Seeger to discuss current issues Thailand. 

The discussion will be followed by further talks about collaboration between the Thai Embassy and the Department of East Asian Studies (Thai Studies), and a welcome speech from Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation Professor Andrew Thompson.

Later, scholarships holders Charlotte Drury and Grace Robinson will give a short presentation on their MA research projects in Thailand, and Level 3 students will give a presentation in Thai.  Finally, there will be an award ceremony, for the Lanna Award for the best Thai year abroad student (Petra Desatova) and best final year student (Grace Robinson).
