Winter weather
Following the severe bad weather that we experienced last year, new procedures are in place to keep the campus as clear as possible of snow and ice.
In previous years it has been the responsibility of Grounds and Gardens and Cleaning Services staff to clear snow and ice. This year, in addition, we also have a new team of volunteers from the DLO who will assist during times of severe weather conditions, providing more people on the ground. New equipment for snow clearing and gritting has also been purchased which will speed up the process and improve efficiency.
As you will appreciate, we will not be able to clear all areas at the same time, therefore we have developed priority clearance routes across campus and we will aspire to clear key areas of the campus by lunchtime, depending on the severity of the weather conditions. Should we experience the same conditions as last year, your patience is asked for whilst our teams work their way across campus.
Any severe problems should be referred to Janet Willis, Cleaning Services Manager on Ext 33434
