Appointment – Professor Nigel Lockett

Professor Nigel Lockett has been appointed Professor of Enterprise at the Business School and Director of the Leeds Enterprise Centre at the University.

Prior to joining the University, Professor Lockett was senior lecturer at Bradford University School of Management and Brunel University Business School, business development manager at InfoLab21 and lecturer at Lancaster University Management School.

His innovation and knowledge transfer-focused research interests include the role of universities in innovation systems; clustering and business networking, and the adoption of e-business technologies by small to medium-sized enterprises. His current ESRC-funded research project is on Knowledge and technology transfer, innovation and competitive advantage: past and present.

Professor Lockett is an experienced manager, entrepreneur and community leader. He has more than 20 years' experience as a company director, with a track record in managing start-up, joint venture and social enterprises. He has successfully designed and delivered programmes in entrepreneurship, innovation, strategy, e-business and technology enterprise and was the founding director of the MSc in E-Business and Innovation.

Professor Lockett is co-author, with Dr Richard Blundel, of the major new textbook Exploring Entrepreneurship, published by Oxford University Press. He is currently President of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship and a Fellow of the RSA.
