Investment for Encos

Encos Limited, a spin-out from the Universities of Leeds and Nottingham, has secured a deal which could result in a total investment of £450,000.

The investment comes partly from IP Group, the University's technology transfer partner, and partly from Sustainable Resource Solutions, a company which aims to provide practicable solutions to waste and resource management problems.

Encos aims to replace concrete as a structural material in all applications with a fully sustainable construction products made from 100% recycled and industrial waste materials. The ultimate aim is to produce units with a wide range of properties to suit different structural applications, using far less energy than traditional methods of manufacturing building materials.

The technology was developed jointly by Dr John Forth from the School of Civil Engineering at Leeds and Dr Salah Zoorob and has been exclusively licensed to Encos.
