University wins two Green Gown awards

The university won 2 Green Gown awards in this year’s programme. These were for:

1. LUU's work on banning sales of bottled water. (Motion 7: Should the Union replace bottled water in Union shops with free drinking water facilities?) and the Green Streets project to collect and redistribute the reusable waste that students leave at the end of the year.

2. The progress we have achieved in the University's Transport Plan 2004 - 2008, indluding:
- reducing commuting by car
- providing car sharing
- discounted annual travel cards
- cycle to work scheme
- active travel
