Research prize awarded to Jesse Harris

The Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin-American Studies presented its third Franco Sciré Memorial Scholarship to Jesse Harris, a final year Spanish and politics student.

The £500 prize is awarded to the student who has produced the best research project during a year abroad in Latin America.

Jesse Harris, who won the prize for his research on politics and memory in post-dictatorship Argentina, was also recognised as the department's best performing finalist with the presentation of the Instituto Cervantes prize. He plans to stay at the University of Leeds next academic year to study for an MA in activism and social change.
