New course for researchers

Protecting and Commercialising Software

This new course is for researchers who have developed research software which has potential commercial application. It may also be of interest to teaching and academic related members of staff involved in software development. It comprises three 2-hour sessions:

  • Generating income for software and web applications: Monday 2 November 2009, 2 - 4pm
  • Outsourcing software development: Dos and don'ts: Monday 9 November, 2 - 4pm
  • IP protection for computer software: Monday 16 November, 2 - 4pm

Practical exercises and clinic sessions with external experts will start participants on the process of commercialising software applications. The course will enable participants to understand the business, legal and intellectual property issues that need to be addressed when commercialising software.
