Double Shell Step success

Two of our students were awarded runner-up places at the Shell Step Regional Finals on 1 October.

Charlotte Fayle (BSc Biology) and Jonathan Hutchinson (BA Geography) received awards for their outstanding achievements on work placement.

Charlotte worked for RCE Services, an electrical contractors, she created a viable energy reduction consultancy service for the company. The company expects that Charlotte's initial work and sales will increase their revenue by £597,000 within the first 12 months.

Jonathan undertook an energy efficiency review at Peter Ramsey & Sons, a timber manufacturing company. His in-plant savings will reduce the company's carbon footprint, reduce their impact on the environment and have made a substantial difference to the company's bottom-line.

Charlotte and Jonathan will now go on to compete at the Shell Step National Finals in London on 14 October and will compete for the title of 'The UK's Most Enterprising Student'.
