Continued success for the Leeds Enterprise Network

Yet another highly successful evening was hosted by the Leeds Enterprise Network and sponsored by Business Link on the evening of Thursday 13 May.

This exciting and innovative collaboration between QU2 and Business Start-Up at Leeds Met, Spark at the University of Leeds and The Unit at Leeds City College provides an invaluable networking opportunity for budding entrepreneurs from across the city and serves as a showcase for their innovative products and services.

Two guest speakers spoke on the evening; the first one was Mark Goldstone, Head of Corporate Relations at Leeds Chamber of Commerce. Mark was able to provide tips and suggestions on how to get the most out of networking and networking protocol. Mark was followed by Liz Cable. Liz is a social media trainer & strategist who founded Reach Further Ltd in October 2006. Liz works with businesses, educational and membership organisations to help them adopt and embed social and collaborative technologies to deliver learning and commercial advantage.

As an addition to the regular formula it was decided that after the speakers had finished their presentations it would be a useful exercise to give start-up businesses there the opportunity to get up and do a mini pitch to the audience. Amongst the businesses that made a pitch were Brella Telecom (a training company in the mobile telecommunications sector) and Ambustar,
a company specialising in first aid services.

The event attracted over 60 delegates and companies exhibiting at the event included Indigo Car and Van Hire Ltd and Dynofusion Design Ltd from the Unit, Surefire Contemporary Circus Theatre from the University of Leeds and Plus Minus Design who are currently based at QU2 and were finalists at this year's NACUE Awards.

The next Network event will be on 18 November at the University of Leeds and Business Desk Editor & Director, David Parkin, will be the special guest speaker.
