Catherine has recently completed a PhD at the University of Leeds, supervised by Prof. David Cooper, Prof. Rachel Cowgill, and Dr Annette Davison. Her research investigates the role of music and sound in Hollywood crime films, focusing upon how the soundtrack engages with the construction of agency for female characters in films released by RKO Radio Pictures during the 1940s. Catherine is currently a teaching assistant in the School of Music at Leeds, delivering courses on film music and music in audio-visual media and contributing to a range of team-taught modules in areas related to critical musicology and research/study skills.
She has previously been an associate lecturer at the Universities of Liverpool and Sheffield and works part-time as a student support officer in the School of Earth and Environment at Leeds, assisting with learning and teaching administration for taught postgraduates in the School.
