Recognising gender equality
We're celebrating a hat-trick of new Athena SWAN Charter awards across the University, recognising advancement of gender equality. The Faculty of Biological Sciences has achieved a silver award, while the Faculty of Social Sciences and Leeds University Business School have both received bronze awards.
Sustainability Awards 2020
Nominations for the annual Sustainability Awards are now open. This is your chance to celebrate the individuals and teams who are embedding sustainability in everything we do at Leeds. Nominations close on Monday 22 June, with winners announced online in early July.

Piers Sellers Prize 2020
Register to attend the virtual presentation of the 2020 Piers Sellers Prize awards on Wednesday 10 June. This years winners are Dr Katharine Mach, for her world-leading contribution to solution-focused climate research, as well as Leeds academics Oliver Grasham and Harriet Thew, for their exceptional PhD research to address climate change.
Audio Video Recording Policy have your say
You can provide feedback on the proposed changes to our Audio Video Recording Policy until Wednesday 17 June. Our recording of educational activities is an important part of the Universitys strategy to ensure the teaching and learning requirements of our diverse student population are met.
for digital education + e-portfolio demonstrations
Read about plans to further develop our use of learning analytics to support students, including the opportunity to see demonstrations by two potential suppliers of an institutional e-portfolio system. E-portfolios are used by students to record and reflect on their personal, professional and academic progress. Their content can be shared with staff, discussed in personal tutoring meetings and be used for career or further study applications. Email the Digital Education Service to register for the two demonstrations, one on Friday 12 June (1.30-3pm) and the other on Thursday 18 June (9-10.30am).
Access the training, resources and support you need
Colleagues who teach or support learning can now sign up to the Adapt Your Teaching for Online Delivery course. This self-paced course is designed to support with the design and delivery of online teaching. Staff and students can also access information on the Digital Practice website that offers support, development opportunities and resources for online teaching, working and study. Join more than 10,000 staff and students who are taking advantage of the free online courses from LinkedIn Learning. Courses provide a great opportunity to gain new skills or brush up on your existing expertise from IT systems, including subject specialist software, to leadership and management modules at a time and place convenient to you. REF2021 open meetings
Register via email to attend REF2021 open meetings on Teams, providing an update from the Universitys REF Steering Group about our continuing preparations for the submission and how we are responding to changes to the national timetable. Meetings are on Wednesday 8 July (10am to 12 noon) and Tuesday 14 July (2-6pm). Quote open meeting in the email subject line, and include your name, school and preferred date.
Balancing Life Survey 2020
Take part in the Sport and Physical Activity Services (SPA) Balancing Life Survey 2020. It aims to explore how social distancing measures have impacted upon habits and attitudes towards physical activity, which will ultimately help influence future SPA initiatives. Open until Sunday 7 June, the survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
Academic Listening Project
Do you teach PGT modules with sizeable numbers of non-native English-speaking international students? If so, wed like to hear your views. Please complete the survey investigating issues surrounding second language listening and its possible impacts on student education, as part of the LITE Academic Listening Project
School of Psychology researchers are running two surveys.
The first, which closes today (Monday 1 June), invites parents of primary school aged children to share their experiences of home schooling or continued schooling (if their children are still in school). This information will help schools and families to support children if future closures are needed.
The second hopes to discover how people would prefer doctors in Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments to deal with them when the doctor is unsure whats wrong. The survey about the choices people make in unclear situations is open to over-18s until Tuesday 30 June. Participants can enter a prize draw for the chance to win one of three Amazon gift vouchers (£25, £50 and £100).
Health and Safety Policy consultation
Have your say about the Universitys updated Health and Safety Policy and see how the responsibilities affect you. Feedback can be submitted until Monday 20 July.
Be Curious goes virtual
Join us on Twitter to discover more about our world-leading research from the comfort of your own home as the hugely popular Be Curious showcase goes virtual! While the physical event has been rescheduled to Saturday 10 October, researchers from across the University are putting together some amazing resources and video content for the very first #BeCuriousGoesVirtual next month. Stay Curious by enjoying Demonstration Week (from Monday 1 June), Arts and Crafts Week (from Monday 8 June) and Question Week (from Monday 15 June) theres something for everyone!
Healthy Week 2020
Healthy Weeks virtual programme of activities has been announced to help you and your colleagues get active anywhere, anytime, and to boost your mental and physical wellbeing. Beginning on Monday 8 June, events include live classes and workshops, such as mobility exercises, yoga, a sleep workshop and live cooking demonstration.
Virtual International Medieval Congress 2020
We are excited to announce a virtual International Medieval Congress will be held during the same week #IMC2020 was scheduled Monday 6 to Friday 10 July. A programme of around 500 presentations is being finalised, with further information, including registration details, to follow.
Carers Leeds appointments
While face-to-face sessions with Carers Leeds have been cancelled until further notice, free and confidential one-to-one telephone appointments can still be booked for Thursday 4 June and Thursday 16 July.
