The effects of using Facebook to enhance the study of African Politics for students at the University (Dr Alexander Beresford)
Social media is defined as any facility for online publication and commentary (including videos) that allow for communication in the open. Widely-used third party social media platforms, including but not exclusively Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Academia.edu, Foursquare, Google+, YouTube, blogs and other social, interactive platforms, present useful mechanisms for sharing information and engaging with a range of audiences.
Engagement with social media is widespread and the University recognises that professional use of social media platforms can play a valuable role in the Universitys teaching, research and communication activities.
The University is developing guidance on the professional use of social media; this includes general guidance as well as guidance for use of social media within research and student education. This guidance should be available soon.
If you would like to be contacted when this guidance is published, please email Communications.
