Council approves University fees and funding proposals The University is to set tuition fees at £9,000 per year from 2012 with a comprehensive package of financial support and outreach activities to help students from disadvantaged backgrounds to study. The tuition fee and access arrangements proposals are subject to agreement by the Office for Fair Access (OFFA).

Open meetings - preparing for 2012

During the last two weeks of March the Vice-Chancellor and members of the University's senior management held open meetings with staff to discuss our preparation for the new 2012 funding regime.

Elections to University committees

The timetable for elections to University committees by the Senate, support staff and faculty constituencies has been published. Appointments will be effective from 1 August 2011.

University supplier exhibition

This year's exhibition will be attended by over 70 exhibitors and give more than 700 visitors the opportunity to speak to their suppliers face to face. The exhibition will be held on 19 April in the sports hall from 10.30am - 3pm, with a buffet lunch 12pm - 1.30pm and wine raffle. Additional paternity leave

New rights came into force on 3 April allowing eligible fathers/partners to take additional paternity leave and to receive statutory paternity pay.

Campus bird watch - 5 May

The sustainability team is organising a bird watch on 5 May with the aim of recording the variety of birdlife on campus. They will also be holding a lunch-time survey skills session on Wednesday 4 May for anyone who would like to learn more about identifying birds.

A new website for the University's reuse service - which finds a new home for unwanted furniture, equipment and stationery - has been launched.
