Tuition fees

On 16 March the Senate discussed proposals for setting tuition fees for 2012/13 and for an accompanying package of financial support. The proposals will now go to Council on 31 March for further discussion and approval.

UCU industrial action

The University is disappointed that the University and College Union (UCU) asked its members to take strike action on 22 and 24 March.

UCU postpones talks

The University is disappointed that the UCU has postponed a meeting scheduled for Monday 28 March to review the organisational change procedure and other protocols agreed last March. The meeting - which was to be held in London, involving national UCU officials as well as officers from Leeds - was arranged over a fortnight ago. The date was one of three originally suggested by UCU itself, but the union now says that it 'cannot field its full negotiating team that day'.

The Big Switch Off

As part of Earth Hour and to mark the end of Climate Week, we're asking people to switch off as much University equipment as possible on 26 March, before they leave for the weekend.

Measles update - MMR drop-in sessions

Public health experts are reminding Leeds students and young people in the city of the importance of the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccination following recent confirmation of cases of measles. University funding announced

The funding council has announced final figures for this and next year's grants for teaching and research, with an overall reduction over the two years of 5.7%, or just over £8m, in our core funding.

Preparing for 2012: Open meetings

The future of the University and how we maintain academic excellence to 2012 and beyond, is the focus of three open meetings being held by the Vice-Chancellor Michael Arthur and members of the senior team. The final meeting takes place tomorrow (Friday 25 March) from 9-11 am in Electrical Engineering Agilent LT (1.52).
