Holiday closure
The University will close for Christmas at 5pm on Thursday 22 December. (Thursday 22 December is a normal working day.) It will reopen on the morning of Tuesday 3 January 2012.

It all adds up - holiday shutdown
With the Christmas break only days away, please help reduce the University's carbon footprint by turning off equipment before you leave - whether it's a fridge, fume cupboard, water boiler or a computer monitor. Last year on Christmas Day, while the University was closed, the electrical load across campus was 4,240 kW every hour, using nearly £6,000 worth of electricity and releasing 56 tonnes of CO2. For more details and a helpful checklist see the italladdsup website

ISS Christmas cover
ISS will be providing cover for some critical systems between Christmas and the New Year including the VLE, Portal, web and email. This will be similar to the successful support provided over Christmas last year, ensuring students continue to have access to key systems during a time when many will be revising for exams.

Central teaching space

Please could all teaching and school timetabling staff check that the AV and associated equipment required for teaching is available in the rooms that have been allocated for semester two.

There have been a number of incidents in semester one where teaching staff have not requested the equipment that they would like or need during the timetabling process eg whiteboards, OHPs, and multi-region DVD and therefore have not been allocated the most suitable room.

If any member of staff requires equipment which is not available in the room allocated, please inform your local/school timetabling staff.
