Preparing for our future

All staff are invited to a series of meetings in the autumn at which the Vice-Chancellor and members of the senior team will be available to discuss how the University is preparing for its future, particularly for the next 3-5 years. The meetings will be a chance to ask questions and share your ideas and suggestions about what else might be done. The meetings are scheduled for the following dates:

- Friday 11 November, 1pm - 3pm

- Thursday 17 November, 12.30pm - 2.30pm

- Friday 25 November, 11.30am - 1.30pm

Vice-Chancellor's awards for health and safety

Get your nominations in for the Vice-Chancellor's awards for health and safety before Friday 4 November 2011. As well as the prestigious Vice-Chancellor's Award itself (prize £250), there are four new categories to apply for: Unsung hero, Team, Leading health and Safety, and Official or voluntary practitioner. Director of Communications appointment

Isabel Hunt has been appointed as Director of Communications. Isabel started on Monday 10 October and is based on level 14 of the Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Building. Acting Head, David Wardle, has returned to his full-time role of Head of Corporate Affairs in the Secretariat.

Green Impact

The Green Impact scheme is back for a second year and is now recruiting staff and students to join or form teams and reduce the environmental impact of their departments. Teams work on actions to meet a set of criteria, and are awarded for their progress. LGBT staff network

An initial meeting has been arranged to discuss the development of an LGBT staff network as a result of an extensive programme of involvement and consultation that was carried out with staff in the development of the Single Equality Scheme.

Staff Christmas party

Tickets are now on sale for the staff Christmas party for £17.95. This year for the first time staff can bring their partners. The party will be held on Friday 16 December in the refectory.
