Head of Security appointment

Alan Cain has been appointed as Head of Security in Campus Support Services, the Facilities Directorate. Alan started at Leeds on Monday 5 September and is based at 181 Woodhouse Lane adjacent to the main security office.

Equality & diversity essentials

The Equality Service has recently launched the equality & diversity essentials e-learning course. This online course provides University staff with an introduction to the concepts of equality and diversity and gives an overview of the main legislation, helping staff to understand their rights and responsibilities.

Central teaching space

30 lecture theatres and seminar rooms have been refurbished during the summer and there are now no VCRs available in Central Teaching Space (CTS). New AV systems have been installed and we advise that you contact us at eshelp@leeds.ac.uk or on 35555 if you would like any help with the new equipment and control systems before teaching begins. Please note also that it could take up to five minutes to login to a PC in CTS if you have not used that PC previously.

Student induction

Any staff who are inducting students should visit http://www.leeds.ac.uk/safety/student_induction.htm for supporting information. Both UG and PG students should receive a health and safety induction that fits the needs of their individual experience and the risks inherent in their study.

Brotherton Library 75th anniversary lecture

University Chancellor Melvyn Bragg will deliver the Brotherton Lecture on 'The Book of Books - the radical impact of the King James Bible, 1611 - 2011', to celebrate the Library's 75th anniversary on Thursday 6 October at 6pm in the Great Hall.
