Culture Theme

Culture Theme In Depth page. December 2018

The Culture Theme is one of the University’s six interdisciplinary research themes.

The aim of these themes is to function as a focal point for researchers with shared interests from across all Faculties, helping foster new interdisciplinary connections and grow innovative research questions and projects.

The Culture Theme brings together colleagues who are interested in any aspect of cultural research. We have six areas of particular focus, which have been devised in response to clusters of existing expertise and/or in response to the external landscape (such as Government or funder strategic priorities).

Each area has a designated lead academic colleague, who should be your first point of call for further information about these subthemes. Details of the subthemes and their leads are listed below:

The Culture Theme can offer the following support for researchers:

  • a chance to network and make new contacts with researchers with shared interests from across the University
  • a free theme membership scheme, with targeted communications on areas that interest you
  • a pump priming scheme, to help support your interdisciplinary research projects; and
  • support for your funding applications, ranging from brokering specialist peer review up to the Culture Theme teams support.
Please contact the Culture Team to find out more.
