GFAL award

Great Food at Leeds (GFAL) won the TUCO (The University Catering Organisation) best marketing award for the relaunch of the loyalty programme campaign. The 12 month long campaign helped to improve customer loyalty and retention and improve customer satisfaction scores across the GFAL portfolio of cafés and outlets on campus.

Lisa Wood and Simon Wood collect Best Overall Hygiene award.

GFAL also performed exceptionally well in the prestigious Chef’s Challenge competition. Our top chefs Simon Wood and Lisa Hall represented Leeds and were given only 30 minutes to provide an innovative menu from a set ingredients list and then to produce the food in front of the judges. The team rose to the challenge and during the competition impressed the judges with their hygiene standards, picking up the TUCO Hygiene Award. During the tasting the judges were impressed with the quality of the cooking and the innovative flavours and awarded Leeds the silver medal.

GFAL were also victorious in the U Dine Awards. Initiated by the Menu Innovation Network the awards have been introduced to recognise and reward innovative student dining and bar concepts in the University and College Sector. Great Food at Leeds achieved the award for the positive impact that the new Refectory has had on customer satisfaction.

Head of Catering and Conferencing, Bev Kenny, said: “These awards are a reflection of the extremely hard work and commitment that the team have in producing the highest possible quality catering offer to students, staff and visitors on campus. I am very proud of the team!”
