Remembrance Day

Leeds University Union (LUU) is again organising an event to observe Remembrance Day on behalf of the Union and the University, with a ceremony outside the Union Building at 11am on 11 November.

LUU has asked that Schools encourage/allow student to observe a minute's silence at 11am wherever they might be on campus. For many students, this will be in the change-over time between lectures so will not require teaching staff to make any special arrangements, but some understanding if students take an extra few minutes to arrive at sessions beginning at 11.05am might be appropriate. Where there are teaching events that run across the 11am time, I would be grateful if the staff running the classes could consider whether it would be possible, and safe, to pause at that moment for a minute to allow those students present who wish to observe the silence to do so.

Poppies can be purchased until Friday, from 10am to 4pm in the Union foyer.
