Participants Required for a New Driving Simulator Study

We are looking for participants for a study aiming to examine the ability of drivers to detect and react to on-roads hazards in varying levels of automation and lighting of the driving environment.

We are now recruiting for our next study (ETHICS: BESS + FREC 2023-0792-877), with data collection occurring in November 2023. This study aims to examine the ability of drivers to detect and react to on-roads hazards in varying levels of automation and lighting of the driving environment. The study will take approximately 90 minutes, including a practice and debrief session. As a thank you for your participation, you will receive £30 upon completion of the study.

All participants need to: 

  • Aged between 25 to 65 years old
  • Have a valid UK driving license for at least three years
  • Be regular drivers, driving at least once a week
  • Have at least 3000 annual mileage driven
  • Have normal or corrected to normal vision (with contact lenses)
  • Be between 5’ 0” and 6’ 6” tall (152-198 cm)
  • Not be pregnant
  • Not use any cardioactive medications, such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, or antihypertensivesNot have claustrophobia, severe motion sickness, feelings of disorientation, serious mobility problems affecting the back, knees and hips.

If you are eligible, we will send you an email with further information about the experiment. If you are not eligible on this occasion, you will be invited to sign up for future studies.
