Dr Martin Ward, Dr Ayako Yoshino, Dr Eve Smith and Joanne Shiel from the University of Leeds are conducting a study into barriers to engagement with collaborative online international learning (COIL)

Barriers-to-COIL Questionnaire

This study is being conducted by Dr Martin Ward, Dr Ayako Yoshino, Dr Eve Smith and Joanne Shiel from the University of Leeds, who would like to invite you to participate in a research study entitled Barriers to COIL.

COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) is a pedagogy that offers an international experience to students without travel.

While COIL is seen to have many benefits, it can require a significant investment of time and effort to set up.

The COIL group at the University of Leeds are exploring the different barriers to setting up and using COIL initiatives, with a view to creating strategies to minimise and overcome those barriers.  While we are eager to connect with other people who are using COIL or who would like to try, we would also like to gauge how the benefits are weighed against the barriers across disciplines, so we would be grateful if you could take 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire, even if COIL is not something you wish to pursue.

Thank you for your consideration.
