School of Psychology

In this laboratory-based study, we aim to explore the impact of a psychological stressor on stress-related thinking (rumination and worry) and subsequent health behaviours.

The experiment involves one session at the School of Psychology as well as completing one online psychological questionnaire prior to this session and two short surveys after the session.

During the session, you will be asked to take part in a stressful task. This involves giving a 5-minute talk to a panel of experts. The panel members will analyse your non-verbal behaviour and you will also be video-recorded for analysis at a later time.

After this, you will complete a computer task and some psychological questionnaires. While completing these questionnaires, you will be offered a selection of snack foods to eat. The laboratory session should take approximately 1 hour.

After leaving the laboratory, that evening you will be emailed an online food diary that will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Additionally, the following morning, you will be emailed another online survey regarding your sleep the previous night (this should take around 5 minutes to complete).
