Want help in starting a healthy active lifestyle?

Researchers within the Human Appetite Research Unit (School of Psychology) are looking for volunteers to take part in a clinical trial investigating the effects of a regular consumption of a yoghurt and jelly food product during a 12-week exercise intervention on health markers in females.

We are looking for female volunteers who are:

  • aged between 18 – 55 years
  • non-smokers
  • non-vegetarian
  • in good general health
  • have a BMI between 25.0 – 35 kg/m2
  • are not currently engaged in vigorous physical activity

The study involves:

Following a 12-week personalised exercise plan under the guidance of our trained researchers and consuming a novel yoghurt and jelly product 4 times per week throughout the intervention. You will also be required to visit the research unit for measures 7 times throughout the 12-week period:

Visit 1: Meet the staff and have an overview of the study

Visit 2 and 5: Have your blood pressure, heart rate, metabolism, fitness level and body composition measured, and complete questionnaires about your mood and eating behaviour.

Visits 3, 4, 6 and 7: Eat your breakfast, lunch and dinner in the research unit and take a snack box home. Blood samples will be taken between breakfast and lunch. We will also ask you to complete a 7-day physical activity diary and wear a physical activity monitor at the start and end of the intervention.
