Men and women wanted to take part in a study of the effects of walking training, funded by Heart Research UK .

We are looking for men and women to participate in a study, funded by Heart Research UK, looking at how different types of walking training completed in the home environment can reduce risk factors which are associated with the development of cardiovascular disease and also improve physical fitness and quality of life.

We are looking for individuals who:

As part of this project we will invite you to visit the exercise laboratories in the School of Biomedical Sciences at a convenient time on 2-3 occasions for baseline testing. Each testing session will last for approximately 60 minutes.

After these visits, you will be asked to perform home-based walking training (3-5 times per week for 30 min) in your own time, returning to the lab 12-weeks later to repeat the two baseline tests. These tests provide information on how your cardiovascular health and physical fitness adapts following a 12-week walking programme.

During the training period, a member of the research team will be in touch by email, telephone or in person at a convenient location to see how you are getting on with the training.

If you fit the above criteria and would like to take part or have any questions, please contact Ros Lancaster at Hithome@leeds.ac.uk or on 0113 343 1669.
