Overweight male volunteers (aged 30-55) needed for sedentary behaviour and health study. On completion, you'll receive feedback on a range of health measures.

We are looking for MALES aged 30-55 years with a body mass index of 25+ to participate in a study looking at the relationship between physical activity, sedentary behaviour and health.

Participants will be asked to attend the Human Appetite Research Unit at the University of Leeds twice in one week (day 1 and day 7).

The first visit will last approximately 2-2.5 hours and the following measures will be taken:

  • height
  • weight
  • waist and hip circumference
  • body composition
  • blood pressure
  • resting heart rate
  • fasting glucose
  • resting metabolic rate
  • physical activity/ sedentary behaviour
  • appetite control

You will be provided with a physical activity diary and fitted with two physical activity monitors (SenseWear armband (worn on the upper arm) and activPAL (worn at the thigh)) to measure your physical activity for the next 7 days.

The second visit will last 1-1.5 hours and the following measurements will be taken:

  • appetite control
  • psychological wellbeing
  • physical activity/ sedentary behaviour
  • cardiovascular fitness

You will also return the physical activity monitors and the physical activity diary.

Upon completion you will receive a comprehensive report which will include information on your waist-to-hip ratio, body composition, blood pressure, resting heart rate, fasting blood glucose, aerobic fitness & physical activity.
