Electrical supply switch-off

Electrical supply will be switched off at multiple locations across campus on two days next month.

Engie, the contractor employed by the University and NHS Trust to fit out the Generating Station Complex (GSC), will be turning off the supply to LC Miall, Astbury, The Edge, Jerusalem Chapel, Willow Terrace, Food Sciences and NHS Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education between 2am and 6am on Monday 4 June 2018.

The second shutdown will be between the same hours on Wednesday 6 June. This will affect:

  • the multi-storey car park
  • EC Stoner Building
  • Physics Research Deck
  • Hillary Place 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
  • Workshop Theatre
  • School of English: Cavendish Road 6, 8, 10
  • School of Music and Clothworkers’ Centenary Concert Hall; and
  • Cavendish Road 3, 5, 7, 9

This is part of ongoing works to reinforce the University electrical system.

The shutdowns will inevitably affect research and other specific equipment in Faculties, and staff are advised to work with colleagues to ensure arrangements are in place locally, either to safely shutdown sensitive equipment or ensure it is re-energised correctly afterwards.

Please bear with us as we continue to progress these essential works.
