Professor Andrew Thompson
After eight consecutive years in senior management roles in the University, Professor Andrew Thompson has decided to step down as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation.
This will allow him return to concentrate on his own internationally excellent research in Colonial and Post Colonial studies.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Arthur said: "Andrew has been a key member of, and major contributor to, the senior team but I fully respect his decision to return to the front line of international research excellence. His contribution as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation has been exemplary and of the very highest quality. I have enjoyed working closely with Andrew over the past seven years, and would like to take this opportunity to thank him for everything he has done for the University. He has made a real difference to our research performance."
The University will seek a replacement to take office from 1 August 2011. In the meantime, Professor Edward Spiers will continue to serve as acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation.
